The Invercharron Highland Games is a major event in the Scottish Highland Games calendar and a very important event locally. Year on year the games grows and we are delighted to welcome increasing numbers of competitors and visitors from around the world annually.
It would not be possible for the Games to be held without a great field to host the event in which has, for many years, been granted by Mr Pete and Mrs Rae Campbell of Balblair Farm for which we are very grateful.
There is a tremendous amount of physical work involved in measuring up and setting out the field including erecting many large marquees, putting up flag poles, marking out and fencing the track to name a few. Ian Campbell, our immensely hard working comittee member, will be helped again in 2018 by the muscle men from the SSE Community at Heart Programme and from the Community Payback Team. We are very grateful for their support.
The financial support of our sponsors is critical for the games to go ahead. Each year the vounteer committee has to raise almost £19,000 to host the Games, not all of which can be accrued through local fundraising. We are fortunate to have many regular sponsors fwho support us and we are eternally grateful to them. In 2018 we are fortunate to have been awarded funding from the E.ON Rosehall Community Fund supported by Foundation Scotland which has enabled us to purchase an additional container for storing our equipment.
The Kyle of Sutherland Development Trust has also provided us with a courtesy bus enabling many local people and visitors easy access from outlying villages and railway stations. This support has been highly valued and we hope it will continue.
